Global Epistemologies and Ontologies of Science
Global Epistemologies and Ontologies (GEOS) is a research project of the Knowledge, Technology, and Innovation (KTI) Group of Wageningen University. The project brings together philosophical and empirical research on global negotiations of knowledge and social-environmental challenges. It aims to understand heterogeneous knowledge about socio-environmental systems by equally heterogeneous actors from Indigenous farmers to laboratory scientists.
Bringing together approaches from ethnobiology and political ecology to philosophy of science and social epistemology, it aims to contribute to critical reflexivity in debates about global challenges such as biodiversity, food production, and public health. Furthermore, it aims to reimagine philosophy as action research that contributes to interventions into social-environmental processes through dialogue with both empirical science and local communities about epistemological and ontological questions.
